How PlayStump works — the rules of the game, the locked answer, the seating draw, credits, the ladder and prizes.
One host, three blind guessers. The host asks a personal question with exactly five options and locks in the true answer. Three guessers each stake one-third of the host's stake and pick an option without seeing anyone else's pick. The moment the third guess lands, the answer is revealed.
If even one guesser reads the host, all three guessers double their stake (2x). If nobody does, the host takes the whole pot — double their stake. PlayStump takes no fee: the pot is paid out whole.
When a game is created, the server seals the host's answer with a random 128-bit salt generated fresh for that game — the published fingerprint is SHA-256 of the answer together with its salt. The salt stays secret while the game is live: with only five options to choose from, the salt is what stops anyone working the answer out of the fingerprint. When the game settles, the answer and the salt are both published, and anyone can recompute the fingerprint and confirm it matches the one published before the first guesser sat down — the answer was locked from the start.
Guessers join a queue and are seated by a random draw, not by choice or speed. The seat order comes from a shuffle driven by public data published with the game, so anyone can recompute the draw and confirm the seats were not arranged.
Hosts stake 30, 60, 90, 150 or 300 credits; each guesser stakes one-third of that. Every game runs on one 24-hour clock. A game that does not finish in time is void and all stakes are refunded.
New players start with 1,000 free credits. If your balance drops under 10, it restocks to 1,000 once a day. Credits are play points only: they are never sold and can never be redeemed for money, cryptocurrency, or anything of value.
Guessers earn 10 XP for playing and 25 XP for a correct read. Hosts earn 10 XP for hosting and 25 XP when nobody reads them — a stump. Win streaks of 3, 5 and 8 pay bonus credits of +50, +100 and +250. XP builds levels from Newcomer up to STUMP Legend, and the ladder ranks every signed-in player. Guests play free, but guest winnings and XP are held until they sign in, and guests do not appear on the ladder.
Some weeks, a prize competition is announced on the site in advance. Hosts and guessers earn points in separate tracks: 25 for a stump or a correct read, 10 for playing. You need at least 3 distinct opponents to qualify, and one player can win one prize per week. The top 3 in each track split that track's share of the pool 60 / 25 / 15. Prizes are funded by the operator — never from players' stakes — and are paid in SOL to the wallet linked on your profile card.
Play as a guest, or sign in with Google, email or a Solana wallet to keep your winnings, XP and ladder standing across devices. Signing in is also when you can choose a username — it's optional, and it's the name other players see at the tables and on the ladder. Guests play under a player ID and never pick a name. In the installed app you can turn on notifications and be told the moment your games settle.
